Devlog

Hi there! This is my first dev log for my Intermediate Game Dev class. It's exiting to play with Unity again! Last time I opened Unity was over a year ago. I'm sure rusty now -- I spent half an hour trying to write a script that tells me how many objects are in the scene. I forgot all of C# syntax and keywords. Anyway, here's a scene of the NYU Bobst library. It's always been my favorite place of NYU. Although I like the interior more, I made an exterior scene, which is also really cool -- the scarlet walls! This project is fairly easy and fun since it's just simple sprites, and I enjoyed making it.

What industry roles do I like or hate? That's a great question. My career goal lies outside the game industry, as I'd like to become a game studies scholar. However, if I were to enter the industry, I see myself as more of a designer, I guess. Maybe a programmer-designer? You get to make your own mechanics, which is really cool. I heard there is a job called "game doctor". That also sounds cool. I guess it's some sort of consultant? I'd be more than glad to be a consultant, in particular one that critically examines the social/cultural representations in the game's narrative and mechanics. However, I would never become an artist. Doing art is just too hard for me, which is sort of ironic since I am getting a BFA degree.
